EXPLODED GEOGRAPHIES IV, 2024
Ledelle Moe
Concrete and Steel
Exploded Geographies IV traces connections between place, memory, and displacement through monumental cement and steel forms. Figures and birds are carved with embedded soils gathered from across countries, transforming earth into both material and metaphor. The fragments reflect on belonging and dislocation, permanence and impermanence.
Expanded in 2025 with soil vessels, the work deepens its exploration of cycles of dispersal, migration, and return. These portable fragments embody shifting conditions of identity, history, and geography. Moe invites audiences into a visceral encounter with the land itself—its materiality, memory, and continual negotiation between rootedness and movement.
