Jesse Ede

Bronze

SOLARIS, 2023

Solaris (2023) is a wall-hung sculpture that marks a shift in Jesse Ede’s practice, from utilitarian, floor-based works toward a more purely sculptural language. Constructed in open-cast bronze, the work unfolds as a geometric configuration of overlapping circles, its repetition of radiating forms echoing the circular symbology central to Ede’s solo exhibition, Of Space and Time.

Referencing solar systems and orbital movement, Solaris reflects Ede’s sustained engagement with interplanetary phenomena and the material translation of vast, cosmic ideas. The work balances precision and process, revealing subtle traces of making while maintaining a quiet, meditative presence.

At its core, Of Space and Time represents a moment of creative evolution, an existential contemplation of scale, time, and humanity’s place within the known universe. Encounter Solaris along the Stellenbosch Art Mile, where bronze becomes a conduit for reflection on cycles, distance, and transformation.
