TYD VIR TALM, 2025

This installation by Rudolf Gouws reflects the spirit of a remarkable man. Rudolf was not only a brilliant economist, but someone who understood the quiet language of bronze, art, music, and the deep value of human connection.

Titled Tyd vir Talm, meaning “time to linger” or “time to chat”, this piece captures his essence beautifully. The original idea came from his wife, Sonia and it speaks to their shared appreciation for life’s slower, more meaningful moments.

By focusing on two pairs of legs and feet, Rudolf strips away the noise of the world. He invites us to return to something simple: the act of pausing.

This work is a tribute to unhurried conversation, the kind that unfolds when we are truly present, when we listen to one another without distraction. Rudolf once spoke about wanting to capture humanity in a quiet and honest way and here, he does exactly that.

The empty space on the bench is intentional. It invites each of us to sit down, to pause and to “talm” a little longer.

In this way, Rudolf reminds us to slow down, to connect and to share a moment. His warmth and his work will remain part of this landscape for years to come.
