GABRIELLE KRUGER
B. 1993
Gabrielle Kruger (b. 1993) redefines painting as sculptural practice, manipulating acrylic into layered, collaged structures that oscillate between object and image. Exploring acrylic’s plasticity, she transforms it into forms that mimic rubber, glue, and natural textures. Processes of layering, weaving, cutting, and folding produce ecosystems of interwoven marks. Inspired by landscapes, gardens, and constructed environments, Kruger examines the material and cultural conditions of space. Her work reflects on acrylic paint as plastic, embodying both simulation and reality, while critiquing human-environment relationships. By challenging boundaries between painting and sculpture, Kruger creates works that are expressive, structural, and materially alive.
