Gabrielle Kruger

Acrylic Paint on Galvanised Steel, Varnished

Gabrielle Kruger’s sculpture conjures imagined landscapes of nest-like forms among steel stalks. Though organic in appearance, they are layers of paint shaped into sculptural ecosystems. Using paint as matter—layered, carved, collaged—she transforms off-cuts into forms resembling fossils or nests, suspended in dialogue with nature. The work reflects Anthropocene ecologies, where human activity reshapes environments. As the sculpture weathers with rain, sun, and wind, it harmonizes with seasonal cycles, embodying transience, renewal, and ecological interconnectedness. Kruger’s circular studio practice mirrors natural rhythms, creating a living, breathing landscape painting—poetic yet material—rooted in interdependence between the artificial and the living.
