Johann Moolman (1950–2024) was born and educated in Johannesburg, where he studied at the Johannesburg College of Art before completing postgraduate studies in sculpture at St Martin’s School of Art, London (1975–1976). From 1978 to 1996 he lectured in sculpture, printmaking, and art history at the University of South Africa and the University of the North West. Moolman’s practice reflects a lifelong engagement with material, myth, and spirit, exploring timeless human connections between earth, form, and the unseen.
