A totem stands as a universal symbol of humanity - its vertical form mirroring the human condition. Drawing inspiration from mythology, archaeology, and ancient ritual, Moolman’s work explores spiritual rather than contemporary concerns. Childhood experiences in Johannesburg’s museum and the Sterkfontein Caves shaped a deep connection with the past and unseen energies of the earth. Influenced by the dualities of male and female, sun and moon, his sculptures express balance and interdependence. Each work channels shamanic presence, serving as a conduit between earth and sky - a vessel through which ancestral energy continues to resonate across time.
